Afternoon Tea from Kescoweth Coffee Shop

Afternoon Tea from Kescoweth Coffee Shop

Afternoon tea in Angus? Yes please!

Lockdown in the UK has really restricted us getting out and about, I’ve SO missed going out for a cuppy with family and friends! Luckily some of our favourite coffee shops have adapted to all these new rules and are still able to provide us with their delicious treats! I thought my first cuppy of the week should be something special so we went for a big afternoon tea from Kescoweth Coffee Shop in Angus!

Due to Covid lockdown being in place since Christmas 2020, we’ve not been allowed to meet up with other households until recently. We haven’t had a proper catch up with our friends Nicola and Will since before Christmas so we wanted to celebrate properly…with some delicious wine and food.

Coffee Shop with amazing views of Angus, Scotland

Kescoweth Coffee Shop and Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful house, perched up on a hill with gorgeous views of Lunan Bay and the Angus countryside. They are great for dietary requirements too with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available.

Luckily the sun was out so we moved out outdoor setting onto the lawn. I’m not sure about the weather where you are, but lately on the east coast it has been crazy! Literally four seasons in one day!

We were so lucky that there was no rain, high winds, or snow!

Afternoon Tea for 2 and the Sweet and Savoury Treat Box

Kescoweth have a great selection of sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, pastries, and so many cupcakes, scones and traybakes! Oh, I almost forgot their homemade tablet too!

The mini rolls were filled with ham and cucumber; roast beef; and brie with some kind of jam that complimented it perfectly! Their sausage rolls are so tasty and the mozzarella, tomato and basil pastry was to die for! It was like a delicious pizza pocket, we were gutted we had to half them so we could all get a piece!

For sweets there were Belgian chocolate and raspberry scones, as well as some of the most delicious fruit scones I think I’ve ever tasted, of course topped with butter and strawberry jam. The vanilla and chocolate cupcakes were beautifully decorated for Easter and were the perfect size so they weren’t sickly sweet.

They provided an amazing selection of traybakes, including millionaire shortbread, tiffin, tablet and some chocolate and vanilla cookies. YUM!

I personally would have preferred a little more savoury over the sweet, especially more of those pastries!

When Kescoweth coffee shop reopens, I highly recommend it. It’s family run, the food is so tasty, and they have a cute wee shop with a selection of Scottish giftware. Or if you want to try their amazing homemade food before they reopen then have a look at their takeaway menu.

Of course we had to finish off with a cup of tea.
